Dance Program

Studio 4 offers classes in 8-week progressions. We begin with the basics and move into more challenging technique as we progress. The dance season is August through June, with a 6-week summer session beginning in July. Make-up classes are available during the year, however, missed classes are not refundable. Tuition is due at the first class of each progression, unless arrangements have been made in advance. When holidays fall during sessions, make-up classes will be pre-scheduled.

The youth program, ages 3 to 12, two teen programs and various adult classes offer combinations and repetition for every student. Progression allows students to take various classes and new students to enter throughout the year. Saturday auditions are held throughout the year for mid-session enrollment.

Ballet is considered to be the leading discipline of dance technique. Ballet is the foundation of our program at Studio 4.

Jazz, the other side of dance technique, isolates body movements and creates rhythmic combinations. Adding character and personality to a dance program.

Class Definitions

Creative Movement ~Combined with tumbling, Creative Movement allows our children to experience free movement. By giving children tools for creativity, we promote confidence, and a positive self-image. This class is offered to 3 to 6  years of age.

Pre-Ballet and Stretch ~ Focused on the novice dancer interested in learning more and progressing in Ballet technique. Offered to youth, teen and adult.

Ballet ~ Ballet is all about focus! After taking at least one progression of  Pre Ballet most students will be ready to move into Ballet I. Each class will include bar, center and work across the floor. Offered to youth, teen and adult.

Jazz and Hip Hop ~ Both of these high energy classes are designed around classical jazz technique. This is not aerobics! Each class starts with the basics and moves into combinations through the 8-week series. Offered to ages 7 to adult.

Tap ~ Tap is both mind and body. It is focused and fun. We offer introductory education for ages 5 to 12.

Modern  Dance ~ Modern Dance explores the freedom within us, as dancers. The power of self-initiated movement helps us develop self- expression as well as self-esteem. We offer Modern Dance to teens and adults.

Pilates and Yoga ~ This is an ongoing class to encourage our dancers to stretch and strengthen the core of our bodies. Not only does Pilates help us muscularly, Yoga helps us center and focus our attention on the goals  that await us.

Teen Physical Education

Teen PE is an after school program offered through Bret Harte High School. Students will need to complete 60 hours total in order to get the 5 units required for credit. We require that students participate, 4 hours per week for 16 weeks, allowing for possible absences.
